The 2025 Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) county championships in Bungoma have officially come to a close, setting the stage for the regional games as the county’s top teams prepare to battle for supremacy beyond their borders.
The football fields witnessed thrilling encounters, with Kibabii Boys and Teremi Boys emerging as the dominant forces in the boys’ category. Their performances were marked by tactical sharpness and unwavering discipline. In the girls’ matches, Brenda Girls and Mbakalo Girls exhibited a blend of flair and resilience, securing their well-earned spots at the regional level.
Volleyball fans were treated to fierce competition as Namwela Boys and Chesamisi Boys booked their places after showcasing skillful blocking and aggressive play. In the girls’ category, perennial volleyball giants Lugulu Girls once again proved their pedigree, qualifying alongside the spirited Savala Girls, whose rise through the ranks has been nothing short of impressive.

On the basketball court, Friends school Kamusinga and Bungoma High dominated the boys’ category with high-octane performances that combined speed, precision, and teamwork. In the girls’ matches, Sirakaru SA and Nalondo Girls delivered commanding displays that left no doubt about their qualification credentials.
Rugby, one of the county’s fastest-growing sports, saw four schools qualify in the boys’ 15s category. Kibabii Boys, Bungoma High, Kapsokwony Boys, and FS Kamusinga battled through physically demanding fixtures, showing remarkable strength, strategy, and coordination. Their advancement signals Bungoma’s growing depth and competitiveness in the sport.
With the regional championships fast approaching, all eyes are now on these qualifying teams as they prepare to represent Bungoma County on a bigger stage.
