The teaching fraternity in Kirinyaga County has been thrown into a mourning mood following the death of three teachers who died in the past one week.
Kiamutuira Secondary School in Kirinyaga Central lost a deputy principal after she fell in her bathroom, sustaining a fracture of her left fibula.
After the accident, one Ruth was taken to the hospital, where she was treated and was under the care of her daughter, and she was responding to treatment.
Just when she was on the road to recovery, she went to sleep last Sunday, but never woke up.
Ruth had just been promoted to principal before her death.
Former secretary of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Kirinyaga chapter, Harrison Gichira, died after suffering a stroke in December and has been in a coma for over six months.
Gichira will be remembered for his tireless fight with former presidents Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta’s regimes, during which he demanded better salaries and conducive working conditions for teachers.
