The long-awaited Msambweni Teachers Training College, (TTC) is set to open its doors to the first cohort of students in September this year.

According to area Member of Parliament Feisal Bader, the facility is now fully equipped and ready to begin offering teaching courses.

The college becomes the second public teachers training institution in Kwale County, after Kwale Teachers Training College located at Bang’a in Kinango sub-county.

Speaking during a title deed issuance exercise at Gazi, MP Bader encouraged students from the region to take advantage of the new institution, which he described as a major milestone in improving access to higher education locally.

“The college will go a long way in easing the burden for students who have been forced to travel outside the county to pursue teaching courses,” he said.

The MP noted that the establishment of the college aligns with ongoing efforts to boost education standards and empower local youth through accessible and affordable training opportunities.

The MP added that the government, in collaboration with local stakeholders, has invested significant resources to ensure the institution meets national education standards.

Classrooms, hostels, a library, and administrative offices have all been completed and furnished ahead of the September intake.

The opening of the Msambweni Teachers Training College is expected to not only enhance teacher development in the coastal region but also stimulate economic growth in the area by creating jobs and supporting local businesses.

Bader also expressed optimism that the college will boost the region’s education sector by producing a new generation of qualified teachers who understand the local context and can contribute to improving learning outcomes in schools across the county.

Admission details and course offerings are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

“This is a huge win for Msambweni,” said a resident.

Bakari said for several years, they have watched their youth struggle to get opportunities for higher learning, adding that having a college within reach will change many lives.
