Former Keroka Technical College Chief Principal Harold Ongeri has promised to work diligently and impartially in the Kisii County Service Board to meet the residents’ positive expectations.
Ongeri spoke at the County’s Board room shortly after he was sworn in as the new chair of the Kisii County Service Board.
“I am grateful to the county government for appointing me to this challenging position, in which I promise to use all my efforts and experience to bring the best on board with the help of God.”
Ongeri will be assisted by Dr Silas Ayunga, Jared Omwoyo, and Jane Nyabuto, who will serve as his executive committee members and steer the functions of the Kisii County Public Service Board.
Kisii County has been running without the service Board for six months after its chairman, Elijay Abebo, was elevated to the County Deputy Governor after Dr Robert Onsare Monda’s impeachment.

Since the inception of the devolved County Governments in 2013, Kisii County has had various people serving as chairmen of the Public Service Board, including the late Evans Mamboleo, the former Principal of Nyamonyo Secondary School, the former Kisii County Assembly and South Mugirango MP, Ondimu Kombo, and the Current Kisii County Deputy Governor, Elijah Obebo.
Residents say that Mr Ongeri’s appointment from the teaching fraternity to the position indicates that Kisii County Governor Simba Arati is trying to buy the loyalty of teachers for his government.
“He is trying to imitate his precessor James Ongwae who was a darling of teachers but I think the up hill is too sloppy for him.”Said one teacher from Maroo Esinde Secondary School.
Samuel Monari from Kitutu Chache North said that the appointment of Ongeri was a mockery from Kisii County Government, who blamed them for recycling old people to the appointment ot public positions at the expense of the young, qualified, energetic, unemployed youths from the county.
