This development comes amid the ongoing administrative crisis at the University of Nairobi which has shaken the leadership re alignment in the institution.
The arrests arises from accusations that the council members unlawfully reappointed Brian Ouma as Chief Operation Officer, despite a annulling letter from Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama and a court ruling delivered on April 8, 2024, by the Employment and Labour Relations Court that invalidated his reinstatement.
The EACC claims the trio deliberately ignored this ruling and passed a resolution to reappoint Ouma in defiance of the law.
During the court proceedings, the accused opposed taking a plea, citing a standing court order that prohibits the removal of Ouma from office, further complicating the legal and administrative entanglements surrounding the university’s leadership.
