Principal drums for school alumni importance in schools

Mwala School Chief principal Musee Mwalili has noted that school alumni plays a bigger role in the good performance of the school.

Speaking to Education News in his office, Mwalili noted that the old boys mentor and guide students to perform better and be useful people in future.

“The old boys are part of the school. They mentor the young ones in academics. They usually have a very special visit and talk to them,”Mwalili said.

The Principal stated that in a school with a population of 700 students and five streamed, has an entry marks of 200 to 300 but performs so well due to the committed efforts of the school alumni and teachers.

“Last year we had 26 candidates transitioning to university out of 231. The leading student scored grade A minus of 80 points being the best boy in Mwala sub county.”

“That boy had transferred from a school in Rift valley, he had 371 marks in KCPE and joined us while in form three. He got A plain in all subjects except in physics where he got B plain,” Mwalili said.

Mwalili noted that discipline is a very crucial factor in performance and the boys are very disciplined and hardworking above putting God first.

He noted that some of very big and senior people in this have passed through that school. The environment is also very conducive besides hardworking and devoted teachers.

In co-curricula, three boys reached national level in badminton last year.
