Matiliku principal Johnstone Ndivo has called upon the students who are heading to university and tertiary colleges to make sure they are disciplined.
He called upon students to avoid bad company, go to church, go home when necessary and be focused generally.
“You are not going there to waste your parent’s money, put more efforts in academics that’s how you can repay your parents. I always tell my parents that they bring boys to me and in return I give them gentlemen,” Ndivo said..
He reminded parents to try and be closer to their children, guide and counsel them adding that they should be keen to know the characters of their children and any other changes in their lives.

He noted that they awarded 149 students who qualified for university with suitcases and the rest with different prizes.
Ndivo added that besides prize giving they had school harambee for installation of bakery to cut down cost, then construct IT lab and library in preparation of grade 9 and 10.
“Here we have our own posho mill, vegetables, milk, we are saving to develop the school,” principal said.
He revealed that there are plans to do cabros and fix tiles in classes without, purchase school van and do general facelift of the school.
Matiliku DCC Simon Mapare also called upon schools to have income generating activities to be independent as well as cutting down on costs.
“Today we are fundraising for this school to have their own bakery and other development projects, I laud it as one of the best initiative which other schools should emulate,” Mapare said.
He warned men who are neglecting their children in failing to pay school fees promising to deal with them.
“I have around four cases of men leaving the responsibility of school fees to their wives, why are you doing that, kindly come and report such men to me,” Mapare added.
