More than 100 newly recruited teachers from Junior Secondary Schools in West Pokot have congregated at Nasokol Girls High School for a week-long Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) retooling exercise.
During the training launch, Paul Kamas, the Teachers Service Commission’s (TSC) West Pokot Deputy County Director, congratulated the teachers on securing employment with TSC and confirmed that he was the employer’s representative.
He asked the teachers to take the training sessions seriously and observe the teachers’ code of conduct.

He warned teachers against disrespectful behaviour in school. He asked them to mingle professionally with the staff members available in their schools.
Kamas reminded them that the training sessions were learner—and activity-centred, shifting from the medieval lecture and chalk talk system, where the teacher was believed to monopolise all ideas.
The programme, organised by the TSC, aims to equip teachers with the skills and knowledge to implement the CBC effectively.
The training has adopted the innovative cascade model and will run from April 22-25.
It’s further aimed at aligning the CBC with the globally harmonised educational standards.
The programme covers languages, Mathematics, humanities, and technical subjects. Teachers are clustered by subject, Special Needs Education (SNE), and regular schools.
