Makueni County Executive Committee Member for Education, ICT, and Internship Elizabeth Muli has called upon parents to enroll their children in County Technical Training Institutes (CTTIs) to acquire skills for self-employment or other employment avenues.
Speaking at Wote Technical Training Institute during a meeting with the chairman and managers of the county technical training institutes on how to manage the institutes and inducting on human resource management and governance in general, Muli said the county, which has 61 CTTIs, is geared towards training youths to become better people in society.
“Kindly take your children to technical schools to get skills to help them. We have capitation allocation as the county government,” Muli said.
She encouraged students to apply for bursaries now that the court has given leeway for bursary allocation.
“We are going to start from where we stopped in allocation,” Muli said.
Nick Nzioka, the coordinator for all Makueni chairpersons in CTTIs, expressed gratitude to the county government for their procurement and general management training for the colleges.
“We want to be trained occasionally. We will train the other board members in our colleges,” she added.
He called upon the county to continue allocating more funds to the colleges.
