Kwale youth urged to uphold discipline beyond Ramadhan

Kwale Woman Representative Fatuma-Masito

Kwale Woman Representative Fatuma Masito has urged young people in the county to maintain a high level of discipline and continue prioritizing religious values even after the holy month of Ramadhan.

Speaking during a community outreach event, Masito noted that many youths demonstrated admirable self-restraint during Ramadhan, especially by avoiding drugs and engaging more in religious activities.

“During Ramadhan, I used to see fewer people at Muguka kiosks. Our children’s discipline was top-notch, kindly continue with that spirit even after the fasting season,” she said.

She praised the youth for showing commitment into religious education, which she said plays a key role in shaping character and promoting moral responsibility.

Masito also called on parents, religious leaders, and community elders to support young people in staying on the right path, urging them to create more platforms that promote positive behavior and discourage drug use.

Her remarks come amid growing concerns about rising insecurity cases, Muguka and drug abuse among the youth in coastal counties, including Kwale.

Masito further urged parents to invest in religious education for their children, saying it plays a vital role in shaping character and instilling a fear of God.

“As you plan for your children to get a good secular education, please consider the religious one too,” she said.

She added that youth are the future leaders of the nation and that leadership requires integrity, discipline, and spiritual grounding.

Masito further stressed that spiritual grounding helps young people make better choices and live harmoniously with others, reducing conflicts and promoting community cohesion.

She also called on parents, especially mothers to take the lead in ensuring their children receive strong religious education adding that women are the managers in their homes and have great influence in shaping the values of their children and ensuring they receive quality education, both religious and secular.
