Makueni Boys was named the school with the most projects advancing to the national level, as the Eastern Region Kenya Science and Engineering Fair (KSEF) concluded today.

The school garnered five entries across various categories, further solidifying its reputation, particularly as the host of this year’s KSEF, which brought together representatives from eight counties.

Machakos led, followed by Makueni, and then Embu scooped position three.

Host principal Francis Mutua expressed his pride, noting that the school had upheld its honour on home ground.

“We were not defeated at home,” he remarked, adding that they aimed for even greater success while commending the students and teachers for their hard work.

“Once called upon, we will gladly host you again for another event like this. To those proceeding to the nationals, kindly fine-tune your projects and all the best to our young scientists,” Mutua encouraged.

Peter Makasi, Chairman of the Eastern Region, praised the participants, emphasising that “scientists have no issue with discipline.”

He announced that the national competition would be held at Kangaru School, which is still in the Eastern Region.

Makasi further advised students advancing to the national level to seek guidance before selling their projects.

“Don’t sell your projects at a throwaway price. Always consult us so that we can help set a proper value,” he asked.

The chief guest, Justine Muriuki, applauded the hosts, saying, “We will use Makueni Boys as an example. The projects you undertake will broaden your horizons, making you all winners.”

Muriuki encouraged students to refine their work ahead of the nationals.

“Just polish your projects, and I’m confident we will surpass the nine projects we achieved last year. Let’s improve so that we can win at home. We will support you till the end.”
