Bungoma County Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving education by strengthening Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) and equipping Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
In an exclusive interview, County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education and Vocational Training, Eng. Agnes Wachie, underscored the government’s dedication to fostering a conducive learning environment.
She announced that all PP1 and PP2 learners across Bungoma County will receive porridge in their schools, a program funded by the County Government to enhance nutrition and improve concentration among young learners. The initiative is part of broader efforts to support early childhood education and ensure pupils are well-nourished for effective learning.

“The county is committed to ensuring that our youngest learners have the best start in their education journey. Through the free porridge program, we are promoting their health and boosting their ability to focus in class,” said Wachie.
In a significant boost to technical education, the CEC confirmed that all TVET institutions in the county are now fully equipped with the necessary tools and machinery, empowering students with hands-on skills essential for the job market.

The move aligns with the county’s strategy to enhance vocational training and reduce youth unemployment by equipping trainees with practical expertise.
“Our TVET centers are now well-equipped, ensuring that learners receive quality training in various technical fields. This is a major step toward creating a skilled workforce that meets industry demands,” she added.
The Bungoma County Government continues to prioritize education as a key pillar of development, investing in both foundational learning and vocational training to shape a brighter future for its youth.
