Machakos County Trade and Tourism Executive Committee Member Sharon Mutua has asked the youths to embrace Machahood Studio to exploit their talents.
She said the new facility which will be launched this month will provide an opportunity to the youths to enhance and exploit their talents.
“This month of January the Machahood Studio will be opened and it will be a platform for creatives and artistes to nurture their talents and earn from it,” she said.

She spoke during Vuka Festival at Machakos People’s Park to usher in the New Year 2025.
She said that the Festival was a partnership between the County Government of Machakos and local artistes.
“It was a moment to celebrate and thank God for the year 2024 and ushering us to 2025. It was an invitation to the people of Machakos to enjoy the Machakos People’s Park facility which has been restored,” said Ms Mutua.
She said local artistes got a chance to showcase their talent. “They also earned money though the amounts were quite modest,” she added.
Over 40 artistes performed during the event.
Mutua said the bigger benefit was to the people of Machakos as they were entertained by their local artistes and got an opportunity to visit the park for free adding it was a business opportunity for various service providers including food and beverages vendors as well as boda boda and tuk tuk riders.

There are plans for continued engagement and exposure of local talents, Mutua added.
“We welcome all those who have talent in Music, film, plays, content development to take advantage of this facility,” says Mutua in her parting shot.
On the eve of New year, thousands of fans thronged the Vuka Festival at Machakos People’s Park to usher in the 2025 with dance, music and joy.
As the 2024 sun set on the horizon of the Kapiti plains visible from the open arena, business was already booming with scores of vendors who had pitched tent at the park cashing in on the milling crowds.
Food points offering various delicacies including Nyama Choma, chips and chicken among others, various drinks including the traditional Akamba brew locally known as Kaluvu were on offer providing a comprehensive menu to the fun lovers.

Fans sat on the terraces and in the tents overlooking the amphitheater while others were just content to tour the open park as they listened to the music booming live from the stage as various artistes including Benga Maestro Ben Mbatha Kativui of Kyaume Boys Band, Gospel Artiste Bahati flanked by Diana, Masekete, Kaewa Superstars, DannyP Mbokambyu also known as ‘Kateetee’, and Ndeke ya Musoil among other local artistes thrilled the fans with a cacophony of original tunes.

“The beauty of this event is in the setting; being able to enjoy your drink and live music in the open arena unlike in the enclosed pubs in the towns and cities,” said Jones Muendo, one of the fans at the Vuka Festival.
A Kaluvu traditional brew seller donning a ‘Kamba Museum’ dust coat had cleared his stock at the click of midnight.
He said he had sold 25 containers of 20 litres each with a glassful going for KSh100.
At the entrance to the park tuk tuks and boda boda riders made a kill with the place looking like a busy commuter station.
