Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Education Julius Ogamba has issued a stern warning on those who will be found cheating in the ongoing national examinations stating they will face the fierce hand of the law.
“Those who will be found cheating in the ongoing examinations will be arrested charged in the court and imprisoned.” He said.
The CS who was speaking at Kereri Girls High School took the chance to wish all candidates success in their examinations.
He said that Kenya is among the countries with the best education systems and standards and asked the youth to stand up to defend it by working hard in class and refrain from any form of cheating.
The CS who was on inspection duty on the construction and readiness of the Junior Secondary Schools in both Kisii and Nyamira counties, expressed satisfaction but said that still there was more that needed to be done.
He was received by the School Management Committee Kereri Girls led by Kisii County Director of Education Philip Chirchir.
The director informed the public that his office in condition with the region’s security office had put all measures in place to ensure the smooth running of the examinations and to curb possible cases of cheating.
“We put all operational mechanisms in place for the candidates to sit for their examinations uninterrupted and hope they will perform well.” He said.
Kereri Girls High School Senior Principal assured the CS that her girls will produce good results in this year’s KCSE because they had been prepared well by their teachers. ” The environment is set for all of our able candidates and we pray God to help them.” She said.

The Principal presented a cake to the CS who broke it and ate with the candidates to wish them success in their examinations.
Kereri Girls’ School is classified among the Extra County Schools in Kisii. In 2023, it presented 617 candidates in the KCSE examinations among these, 471 attained grade C+ and above with the best 9 candidates scoring grade A plain for direct University entry.
The Principal said the school registered 800 candidates this year who set their mean score target at 8.48 and expressed optimism with the phrase- anything is doable when there is determination.
