Residents from Bosamaro ward in Nyamira county have raised concerns over the delay in the completion of construction and rehabilitation of school projects worth Ksh1.4 billion.

Led by their former MCA, Beautah Omanga, they claimed construction, funded by Kuwait, had not yet started in schools such as Mwongoria Secondary and Enchoro Primary.

According to Omanga, the State Department for Basic Education awarded tenders for the construction and rehabilitation of 68 schools in the county but little had been done in the ward.

“Construction and rehabilitation has started in schools in other parts of the county but not even a mark has been made for schools in our ward,” he said.

The residents appealed to Education CS Julius Ogamba to visit the area and audit the projects because they suspect foul play by managers of the project.

According to a site handover schedule sent to the county’s Director of Education Samuel Kega, site officers were divided into four teams to cover construction work at beneficiary schools spread equally across the four constituencies.

Omanga also called on the county Senator Okong’o Omogeni to find the Supervisor in charge of West Mugirango sub-county and inquire on the state of the issue before informing them.

“He is our public watchdog and we need his oversight services on the ground. We request him to check on this,” he said.
