Education stakeholders from Kisii County have appealed to organizers of the World Teachers Day celebrations to hold it at local levels to enable all teachers, parents and learners to feel its values.
Their observation comes as the KNUT and other stakeholders are meeting at Kunste Hotel in Nakuru City for this year’s celebrations.
They appealed to the Ministry of Education (MoE) to consider rewarding some of the exemplary performers in education, who include Nairobi School Chief Principal Casper Maina and his Kisii School counterpart Fred Mogaka.

Others whom they recommended to be recognized include former Kisii County Education Board Chairman Prof Henry Onderi and the Principal of Nyagachenche Secondary School.

“These teachers have given their best services to the education sector and we appeal to the CS for Education to consider honouring them,” said Elizabeth Nyabochoa, an education enthusiast.
Mogaka is on record for having revived Riokindo Boys High School after years of poor performance.
