TSC directors in training to implement teacher standards, policies

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is holding a 5-day training programme for Regional Directors of Education (RDEs) and County Directors of Education (CDEs) to oversee the implementation of teacher standards and policies in the country.

The training, which commenced on Monday at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), kicked off on September 16 and will end on September 21, 2024.

The main areas of focus during the training include Mental Health and Psychological Support (MHPSS) and the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) implementation and assessment.

KICD Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Prof. Charles Ong’ondo noted that the RDE and CDE roles are crucial in the successful implementation and contextualization of the curriculum.

The training is being facilitated by technical experts from UNESCO/IICBA, KICD, and Kenya National Commission for UNESCO.
