The Dagoretti High School in Nairobi County has been closed indefinitely following student unrest on Sunday night.

During the incident, students vandalized and damaged property before the administration resolved to send them home to avoid further damage and ensure the safety of other students.

At least 11 students were admitted to Garden Medical Clinic with minor injuries as a result of the melee that followed a fight between Kenyan and Sudanese students.

Police said the admitted students were injured when they clashed over a basketball match they were playing on Sunday evening but things erupted in the night and afterwards turned religious, with the groups using sticks and stones to attack each other.

They pointed out that what sparked the fight was a dispute that erupted between two students, Form 1 and Form 4.
