Bumula MP calls for full implementation of teachers CBA 2021-2025

Bumula Constituency MP Jack  Wanami  Wamboka  has urged the government through the Ministry of  Education (MoE) and  Teachers  Service  Commission  (TSC) to fully implement the teachers’ second  phase  of  the  Collective  Bargaining  Agreement  (CBA)  2021-2025.

Speaking  at  Khasoko  Boys  High  School  in the constituency, during  the  areas  Education  Day  Fete  ,Wamboka  has  noted  that  it  is sad  for  teachers  to continue  suffering  through  low  pay  and yet  the  government signed  and pledged  to  honour  their  CBA  but  now  they  are  taking  them  in  cycles.

Wamboka  said  that  he  is  in  solidarity  with  the teachers  even  if  it  means  them  to  paralyze  the  education  sector  in  public  schools  if they participate in the  nationwide  strike  slated for early  September  when  schools  open  for  third  term.

On  his  part   KUPPET Bungoma Branch   Chairman    David  Barasa,  said  that  teachers  are  not  going  to  relent  in  their  quest  to  have  a full  implementation  of  all  factors  in  the  second  phase  of  the  2021-2025  CBA.

Barasa  also  called upon  on  MPs  to  ask government  to  explain  further  on  how  long  will  the  Housing  Levy  Tax  will  be  deducted from  their  salaries  terming  is  as  punitive  and  against  their  wish.

At the same time,  Bungoma  County  Governor   Ken  Lusaka  who  was  the  chief  guest  at the event,  promised  to  award  a personal  contribution  of  Ksh  1  Million  to  aid  in  the  construction  of  a  dormitory  to accommodate  more  learners  at the institution.

The event saw Khasoko boys, Miluki Girl’s, Napara Girl’s, Kabula boy’s, Kitingia, Mundaa and Mungore public Primary  schools awarded for their stellar performance while Mount Carmel, Prola and Carmel View academies rewarded for emerging victory in last year’s exams.
