Education officials in Nyeri sign performance contracts

Nyeri County Secretary and Head of Public Service, Benjamin Gachichio, along with the County Executive Committee Member for Education, Margaret Macharia, witnessed the signing of performance contracts by the Chief Officers in charge of Education, Training, and Devolution in the county yesterday.

The signing of performance contracts marked a crucial step towards continuous performance, accountability, and the realization of development plans while defining the scope of service delivery to the public.

Gachichio, while speaking during the signing of the contracts, urged the Education Chief Officers and Directors to embrace cohesive teamwork, engagement, and accountability within the Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) centers and Technical Training Centers, recognizing them as critical development infrastructures.

He further emphasized the importance of implementing the contents outlined in the performance contracts by the education stakeholders.

At the same time, Macharia highlighted that performance contracts provide a sense of purpose and direction to individuals and departments, motivating them to perform at their best.

She added that the contracts offers clear expectations and recognition of achievements which creates a positive work environment and enhance employee engagement.

“Implementing performance contracts in the education and devolution sectors promotes transparency, accountability, a goal-oriented approach, and continuous improvement. It helps in achieving desired outcomes, enhancing service delivery, and driving positive change in these sectors,” Macharia said.

Also present  at the event were James Kiretai, Chief Officer of Education; Lucy Kiogora, Chief Officer of Devolution; and James Gachuri, Director of Education, among others.

The signing of the contract was done at the office of Margaret Macharia.
