Schools play vital role in incorporating moral values among students

The rise of concerning trends such as pornography consumption and excessive masturbation among students and young people is a growing issue that demands our attention.

As a society, we have a responsibility to address these challenges and provide guidance to help the youth navigate the complexities of sexuality and relationships in a healthy and responsible manner.

At the heart of this matter is the need to foster a culture of moral responsibility and healthy interpersonal relationships. Young people today are often exposed to unrealistic and misleading depictions of sexuality through various media, which can lead to distorted perceptions and unhealthy behaviours.

It is crucial that we counteract these influences by equipping the youth with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to make informed, ethical decisions regarding their sexual and romantic lives.

One key aspect of this effort should be comprehensive sex education programmes that go beyond the purely biological aspects of sexuality. These programmes should also emphasize the importance of consent, respect, and emotional intimacy in relationships.

By providing a safe and open space for young people to discuss these topics, we can help them develop a deeper understanding of the emotional, psychological, and relational dimensions of sexuality.

Additionally, we must address the underlying societal and cultural factors that contribute to the normalization of sexual immorality.

This may involve addressing harmful gender norms, dismantling the objectification of individuals, and promoting healthy communication and conflict resolution within families and communities.

Ultimately, the responsibility to address this issue lies not just with educators and policymakers, but with all members of society.

By fostering a culture of openness, empathy, and moral accountability, we can empower the youth to make choices that align with their values and contribute to the overall wellbeing of our communities.
