Makueni County has brought on board 125 interns who will be attached to different departments to help gain the requisite experience in their career areas.
Speaking at Wote Green Park during the confirmation of the interns, Deputy Governor (DG) Lucy Mulili called upon county employees not to take advantage of the interns.
“You are here to serve where you will be attached and let no man or woman try to convince you on empty promises. Dare not to mislead these young ones,” Mulili said, encouraging them to collaborate and learn from each other, observe good grooming and proper etiquette, and show a good attitude to work.
The DG advised the interns to plan well on the small monthly stipend they will be getting, adding that the county is ready to mentor and train them.
County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for education, ICT and Internship Elizabeth Muli encouraged the interns to leave a mark where they will be attached.
“We are committed to making you achieve your goals. It’s our prayer that you transition to better jobs after this contract. Everything you do should reflect excellence,” Muli said.
Purity Nthenya, representing person’s living with disability, thanked the county for considering two of them and said they are ready to learn and shape their future.
