Kisumu Poly’s peaceful elections usher new student leaders into office

Kisumu National Polytechnic Student Association has elected new office bearers during peaceful polls held at the middle-level learning institution.

Wilfred Olela was elected the new chairperson after securing 1,465 votes, the position of vice chairperson going to Susan Akeyo while Wycliffe Akono was elected Secretary General.

Julia Owino clinched the position of Treasurer while the slot of Organizing Secretary went to Odianga Zenani.

James Akinyi was endorsed for the position of gender affairs representative while Wandera Nakiri will represent persons with disability.

Several departmental representatives were also elected into office, namely Cavine Otieno (Business Studies and Entrepreneurship), Jonah Obango (Electrical and Electronics), Evans Odhiambo (Building and Civil), Oloo Medrine (Liberal Studies), Amos Tobiko (Agriculture and Environment), Otieno Felix (Applied Sciences), and Lenox Odhiambo (Hospitality and Tourism).

Others are Humphrey Shikoli (Textile Design and Cosmetology), Brian Achoka (Computing and Information), and Allan Okello (Health Sciences).

The elections were presided over by the college registrar Ezekiel Oloo who commended the students for the peaceful polls.

Addressing the students after being sworn at the multi-purpose hall, Olela promised to run a transparent system devoid of bureaucracy.

He also promised to unite the entire student leadership and the administration.
