Secondary school heads in the North Rift region have appealed for the allocation of more funds to the schools.

Led by Phillip Ngetich they noted underfunding has interrupted the smooth running of the institutions, hence the need for more funding.

Speaking in Mosop, Nandi County, he noted that their commitment and hard work have seen academic standards improve in the region.

“Our hard work and commitment have paid off. Last year, our region reported the highest number of candidates joining universities,” he noted.

He called on elected leaders to be on the forefront in championing the rights of teachers and learners in the country.

According to him, school heads in the region are focused on ensuring their schools perform better this year in national exams.

Ngetich also commended education stakeholders from the county for their cooperation, adding that schools from the county are also a power house in sporting activities.

“I would like to thank education stakeholders from this region for their cooperation. This is commendable. Schools in this region are a powerhouse in sporting activities and we are happy about this,” added Ngetich.

The heads further appealed for timely release of Capitation funds, noting that delayed release hampers the running of schools in the country.
