High expectations as Mombasa schools to battle it out in county ball games next week

Mombasa schools are preparing to take part in Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term Two Ball Games at the county level.

The events are scheduled to take place from June 22-24.The events that are set to take place include football, volleyball, netball, rugby 7s for both boys and girls, 3 on 3 basketball, and racquet games.

In boys’ football, Pool A will be composed of Moi Forces Academy, Marimani Secondary, Tononoka Boys Secondary School, and Miritini Secondary.

Pool B will consist of Miritini Complex, Khadija Secondary, Serani Boys Secondary, and St Charles Lwanga Secondary School.

In girls’ football, Mwakirunge Secondary, Jomvu Girls, Star of the Sea, and Bomu Secondary will make up Pool A. On the other hand, Pool B will include Hassan Joho Girls’ Secondary, Puma Secondary, St Charles Lwanga Secondary, and Kajembe Secondary.

Serani Secondary School, which dominated boys’ football last year, plans to maintain their winning streak this year. In the previous year’s games, the boys’ team, guided by Coach Swale Abdalla, also known as ‘Coach Sunda’, triumphed over Changamwe Secondary School with a decisive 3-0 victory in the finals. This marked their third title win in a row, a streak they have maintained since 2021.

Last year, in the girls’ football category, Bomu Secondary School emerged as the champions by securing a 1-0 victory over Kaa Chonjo in the final.
