Huge expectations for education sector ahead of budget reading today

Treasury CS Njuguna Ndungu will today presents Kenya Kwanza’s second budget in Parliament for Financial  Year 2024-25 in Parliament.

Ministry of Education is hopeful of receiving adequate allocation to implement its projects.

Last year, in his maiden project President William Ruto emulated his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta and allocated the MoE the lion’s share of his KSh3.68 trillion maiden budget for 2023-24 Financial Year.

In budget estimates last year Ndungu, allocated KSh628.6 billion to MoE, translating to 27.4 per cent of the entire budget and a KSh84.2 billion increase from the KSh544.4 billion Uhuru allocated the docket in his KSh3.31 trillion budget for the 2022-23 Financial Year.

Recently Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu launched 2023-2027 Strategic Plan prioritizing construction 16,000 new classrooms for the Junior School by December 2024.
