Cardinal Otunga High School Mosocho has launched a revision programme for Form 4 candidates dubbed ‘trailblazers’ in preparation for KCSE exam later this year.
Academic Committee chairperson Prof Margaret Baraza said the teachers have identified weak areas for the candidates to revise under the guidance of their teachers, who have already completed the syllabus.
Baraza, who is Kisii University Associate Prof of Applied Linguistics, revealed that the programme was started in 2021, the reason they have been performing well from that time.
“Teachers identify challenges students have to improve in areas like Sciences, languages, technical subjects and give them more time,” she said, encouraging other schools to use the model for better performance.
Parents Teachers Association (PTA) chairman Captain Francis Omayo said the school targets a mean score of 11, confident that the concerted efforts of parents, teachers and students will help them realize the objective.
He said the trailblazers are poised to set a new school record by becoming the top school nationally.
“The candidates have T-shirts emblazoned trailblazers to remind them to work hard and discover new things,” Omayo told parents during the inauguration.
The principal Ezekiel Okeyo urged parents to pay fees in time to fund the school’s operations.
Dr Matthew Odhiambo, who was the chief guest, challenged the candidates to be focussed in their studies to excel.
”You should have a positive attitude and work hard to succeed,” Odhiambo said.
