Teso North Constituency with a population of 140,000 and a rich heritage of leadership legacy, proudly launched NG-CDF 5-year Strategic Plan that will run from 2023 to 2028.

Consultant Joel Barua said the 2023-2028 Strategic Plan is geared towards the development of Teso North Constituency, noting that the focal point is on education that is geared towards academic improvement.

Barua said the plan targets to start four model institutions, including Ikapolok Primary School and Salvation Army Kolanya Boys High and two model primary schools in Malaba, noting that they will also introduce new techniques in schools and improve existing infrastructure in boarding schools.

Barua said the strategic plan targets to push for recruitment of more teachers to meet the current deficiency of 300, exuding confidence that more tertiary institutions and TVET at Akiriamet will be completed.

The ambitious plan Barua noted will result to construction of police  posts at Osere City in Malaba North Ward, Aboloi in Angurai South Ward, and Kocholia in Malaba South Ward, adding that they will also have seven digital hubs in Teso North including two in Malaba Central Ward and Angurai North which will be relocated.

The strategic plan will also see the up scaling of community enterprise farming to facilitate cash crop management and soil conservation. This will also entail livestock diversity to create breed resistance.

The plan also targets to pipe water to homes, in collaboration with the county government, and to harvest rain water, especially in learning institutions, to cushion against water scarcity.

In the 2017-2022 strategic plan, Oku Kaunya, the then and current area MP administration established 5 tertiary institutions, namely KMTC Teso Campus, Achiya Echakara NYS Technical Institute, The Kenya Highways and Building Technology Institute and Akiriamet Kenya School of TVET.
