Migori announces calendar for approval of maintenance, improvement fund in schools

Migori County has announced the programme for the 2023/2024 Maintenance and Improvement Fund (M&IF) projects approval from schools across the country.

In a memo written by the Migori County Director of Education Jacob Onyiego addressing the Sub-County Directors of Education in the county dated May 15, 2024, announced that there will be meetings by schools which will be conducted at the CDEs boardroom aimed at approving estimates for the 2023/2024 M&IF projects between May 27 and May 31, 2024.

On May 17, Kuria West which has 16 schools, Mabera (19), Kuria East (10), Ntimaru Sub-county (15) will be conducting the meetings. While Rongo and Uriri sub counties which have 32 and 34 schools respectively hold their meetings on the following day.

Nyatike North, South, and West Sub Counties with a thumbing 19, 22, 17 schools respectively in their regions will conduct the meetings on May 29, 2024.

Consequently, Suna West (24) and Migori (32) sub counties will hold their meetings on May 30 with Awendo (38) cubcCounty closing the chapter on May 31, 2024.

The CDE directed the SCDEs to ensure that all schools adhere to the Ministry of Education guidelines.

“You are requested to ensure that the (BoM) and SIC meetings are held in your respective sub-counties to discuss projects to be implemented by schools before the commencement of approvals as indicated in the programme.

Also, ensure proper documentation is done and all relevant supportive documents of previous projects implemented for 2020/2021, 2021/2022, 2022/2023 financial years are attached,” the memo read in parts.

The committee members in the meetings will include; County Commissioner, County Director of Education, County Quality Assurance Officer, host Sub County Director of Education as well as the host Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association.
