Teachers Service Commission County Director of Education (CDE) Baringo Japhet Masibo has assured resumption of learners to their respective schools despite challenges of floods affecting dozens of schools in Baringo.
Speaking to Education News on phone the senior education official while on tour to assess current situation with top officials at Eldume Primary school, he singled Baringo South and Baringo North constituencies as worst hit by floods forcing schools in the area an alternative refuge for displaced floods victims.
‘‘We cannot promise that all schools in Baringo will reopen 100 per cent but at least 90 per cent have so far reopened. Some displaced families have reunited with their families to pave space for learners in schools that accommodated them,’’ said Masibo.

He said displaced families affected by banditry however have left Moinonin Camp where they have been receiving humanitarian aid from government and non-state actors.
Last week, Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi and Red Cross officials visited floods and banditry victims in Loitip Sandai, Chepkotoiyan and Moinonin camps to distribute food and non-food items.
