The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has transferred some principals in both Kisii and Nyamira counties a few days to schools reopening for second term.
According to the latest information from the county offices, St Kizito Nyansiongo Boys High School Chief Principal Ezekiel Okeyo will move to Cardinal Otunga Mosocho to replace Albert Ombiro, who was promoted to Deputy Director of Education recently.
Since his departure last month, Cardinal Otunga has been run by Deputy Principal Gerald Ayiera as acting principal.
Next is Orogare Secondary School which has a new Principal Kennedy Onduso, who formerly headed Ichuni Mixed Secondary School in Kenyenya Sub-county before being delocalized to Bomet County. Orogare Principal was then transferred to St kizito Nyansiongo to replace Okeyo.
Another Principal affected is that of Nyaisa Secondary School in Nyamira County who has been transferred to Kiamabundu Secondary School in Kisii County.
Sources indicate that parents of Nyaisa Secondary School have protested the transfer and moved to court to block it, arguing that he had made a great impact in the institution to raise enrollment from a paltry 200 students to 800 currently.
“We ask the TSC to stop demoralizing teachers but learn to give credit where it is due,” said Jason Ogeto, one of the parents.
Nyamira County TSC Director Catherine Mwenda confirmed the transfers, saying they are routine operations ahead of reopening of schools for term two.
