St Patrick Ikonyero Secondary School, abbreviated as SPISS, recently held a successful academic forum to deliberate on how to improve further their performance in national exams.

Speaking during the forum which brought together parents and other education stakeholders, the school principal Roselyn Namusende stated that the school has overcome milestones academically and in terms of infrastructure.

She stated that despite a number of challenges, the school has grown tremendously in population, with current enrollment being more than 1,700 students spread across the 8 streams.

The principal also revealed that the school is targeting a mean of 5.2 in the 2024 KCSE after 26 students attained direct university entry in the 2023 KCSE.

With a teaching staff of 41 employed by TSC, the school is targeting to take more than 50 students directly to university this year.

It is also planning to construct additional toilets to accommodate the increased enrollment, complete the ICT centre which will host some classes, and build a modern kitchen. The area MP Titus Khamala is fulfilling his promise of constructing toilets through the NGCDF kitty.

Among the challenges the school faces is shortage of classrooms where it needs 14 additional classes to ease congestion. They also need a playground for its co-curricular activities.
