Vihiga County VTCs Drama Festival ends as Maseno, Mwambeba dominate

Vihiga County Vocational Training Centres’ (VTCs) Drama Festival competitions came to a close March 28, 2024 with Maseno and Mwambeba coming out as the best in the county.

Maseno VTC emerged victorious in Narrative, Cultural Creative Dance, Solo Dance and Solo Verse, whereas their counterparts from Mwambeba were top in Play, Choral Verse, Spoken Word and Stand-up Comedy.

Keveye and Gimomoi VTCs won the Modern Creative Dance and Mime titles respectively.

While awarding the champions in the respective categories at Mukingi Multi-Purpose Hall in Sabatia Sub-county, Department of Education CECM Dr Ruth Agesa expressed her satisfaction in the day’s performances, taking the opportunity to wish winners the very best in the upcoming national competitions to be held in Embu County between April 7-18 2024.

Winners celebrate the best way they knew how after after they got the ticket to represent the county in the nationals.

“As a department and County Government of Vihiga at large, we are ready to offer you maximum support to polish your items as you head to represent us at the national level where we expect you to fly the county’s flag higher,” said Dr Agesa.

On his part, TVET Director Charles Avedi thanked managers of the respective VTCs for heeding the clarion call and preparing their teams adequately.

Themed “Unlocking opportunities for socio-economic transformation through drama and film,” this year’s event brought together the 34 VTCs in the county.
