652 teachers were promoted to school administrators in the recent promotions, the Rift Valley Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Regional Director Alex Cheruiyot has revealed.
Some 155 deputy principals were promoted to Principals in the Rift Valley region while 169 deputy principals were promoted from one grade to another and 328 teachers were elevated to deputy principals.
Speaking at his office in Nakuru City, the director advised the teachers who have been promoted to the position of Principals to ensure they work closely and amicably with all stakeholders to improve school’s infrastructural development and academic excellence.
The director said the commission will post the promoted principals to where there are vacancies in any county within the region.
Cheruiyot advised all promoted teachers in administrative positions to ensure they perform a prime role of improving the standards of education in their respective schools.

He congratulated all teachers who have been promoted but urged them to be aware that all education stakeholders like TSC, Ministry of Education, parents, School Board of Management (BoM) expect them to improve the quality of education and mould all-round learners who are ready to serve this nation in the coming years.
“As we congratulate all the teachers who have been promoted, we ask them to improve quality of education in their respective schools and learners get the best in term of academic and character development,” said TSC director.
“Promoted Principals should be ready to work in any county within Rift Valley Region, the Commission promoted you to serve Kenyan children in any work station in which you will be posted. Ensure you do your best to add value to all learners within your work station,” said Cheruiyot.
He also asked them to be good resource mobilisers and managers who spearhead the school towards prosperity in collaboration with teachers, parents and other stakeholders.
“As school Principals, you are required strategise properly to ensure the school is financially stable and parents play their role of financial support to make it run smoothly,” said Cheruiyot.
He also told Principals to work closely with the parents and BoMs and that will only be possible if parents get good performance from their students which will positively motivate them to support the school continuously.
Rift Valley Region has 14 counties of Samburu, Turkana, Bomet, Narok, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Kericho, Laikipia, Nakuru, Baringo, Kajiado, Nandi, Elgeyo Marakwet and Uasin Gishu.
