Pools for Nyanza region school games announced

Kisii School who are champions of Kisii County Rugby 15s celebrate during a past competition.

Kisii National School is set to defend the Nyanza Regional Secondary Schools Rugby 15s to be held in Kisumu this weekend.

According to teams head coach, Lee Arstone, the school has stronger players compared to last year therefore it is expected to retain the title.

“My boys have done enough training and I have confidence they will defend their crown successfully,” he said.

According to Kisii County Secondary Schools Sports Secretary Aggrey Nyantika all qualified teams are in the top gear to travel to Kisumu to participate the Regional Competitions that are scheduled on March 19-23.

He said that teams have grouped into two pools.

In Rugby 15s has been divided to into two poolsA and B only.

In pool A, Kisii School will meet with Agoro Sare, Anjeyo and Nyabondo while in pool B there will be Onjiko of Kisumu, St Mary Yala from Siaya, Cardinal Otunga Mosocho and St Paul’s Gekano.

In basketball girls, pool A has Mokomoni of Nyamira, Asumbi from Homabay, Nyakach from Kisumu and Tuk Jowi from Migori County.

Pool B teams are Ngiya, St. Barnaabas, Ototo and St Angela Sengera.

In boys’ basketball fixture is as follows; Pool A will feature Onjiko, Rapogi of Migori, Otto from Homabay, Nyansiongo from Nyamira and Maseno from Kisumu while Nyanchwa is grouped in pool B, together with Agoro Sare and Maseno and Sawagongo.

Nyamira, Kisumu and Andingo schools will parade their hockey girls’ teams in pool A as pool B will have Genga, Amaiko Rae and Ngi’ya.

Basketball players compete in school games recently held in Kisii

In girls’ handball, Nyamira, Ikonge, Gur and Miranga will meet in pool A while Ulanda Asumbi,Ndonyo and Nyakach will wrestle it out at pool B. The boys’ category in handball will feature Manyatta, Yala and Nyamera in pool A but those meeting in pool B remain unidentified because Ndonyo launched appeal against the winners Cardinal Otunga Mosocho.

Kisii County Secondary Schools Sports arbitration body led by Kisii School Principal Fred Mogaka promised to provide a solution for the intriguing teams before the start of the games.
