MP donates desks to 4 primary schools in Budalang’i

Budalang'i MP stands by the desks he donated in one of the schools.

Budalang’i MP Raphael Wanjala, in collaboration with the Busia Branch of Equity Bank, yesterday donated 120 desks to four primary schools in the constituency.

Addressing the pupils, teachers and education stakeholders after handing them over to the respective learning institutions, the MP urged the learners to put more effort in their studies.

The legislator said the additional desks will go a long way in addressing the shortage of furniture, which has forced learners to sit on stones.

“Shortage of desks in a section of learning institutions in the constituency has always affected performance in exams, so this provision will enable the pupils to learn under a conducive environment,” said Wanjala.

Some of the desks that were donated by area MP Raphael Wanjala.

The MP assured the beneficiaries that Budalang’i NGCDF committee will continue to provide more desks to all schools with shortages owing to high enrollment.

The schools that received additional desks are Mundika B, Budala, Bubango and Mudembi, each receiving 30 desks.

During the event, the MP also requested Equity Bank’s Busia branch manager Oscar Masinde to supply tree seedlings for planting in selected schools across the constituency as part of the environmental conservation programme. The request was accepted.
