Mixed fortunes in Trans Nzoia secondary schools mid-way through term 1

Endebess MP Robert Pukose has been on the forefront creating partnerships and programmes in schools in his constituency.

The management of school accounts has become a thorn in the flesh for some schools in Trans Nzoia, heads rolling after principals of Muungano Mixed and Soil Conservation Mixed failed to account for over Ksh5 million and Ksh4 millionrespectively.

This happens even as Wamalwa Wafula of St Charles Luanda in Botwa, Cherangany, was declared the best manager of the school funds in 2023.

Local MPs through the NGCDF have helped the principals in the expansion of the infrastructure, with Dr Robert Pukose ranking high in support of the programmes and partnerships.

The MP registered Lutaso Mixed and Endebess Centre and went ahead to equip Kokwo Girls’ twin laboratory and a multi-purpose hall that can accommodate 150 students.

While the MP for Kiminini Kakai Bisau is hailed for expansion of Kiminini Complex, Kapkoi Mixed and Masaba Mixed, his counterpart in Kwanza Ferdinard Wanyonyi has injected Ksh18 million into Kolongolo Girls, Bwayi Mixed and St Emmanuel Mixed. The MP for Cherangany Patrick Simiyu equipped schools and donated buses as was recently done for Sitatunga, Sinoko and Bwake Girls.

The teachers, however, have a bone to pick with the Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, whom they want to spearhead the open boarding facilities within Kitale town for the safety of students, especially girls. They cite Matisi Girls and St Phillip’s Grassland as two institutions that have expansive land that can be used for the purpose.

As the Trans Nzoia Secondary Schools Heads Association gears towards choosing their chairman following the retirement of John Murumba, the principals’ only hope is that will they elect officials who will create a working relationship with the new TSC County Director Lesewa Solomon and his MoE counterpart Solomon Akello.
