Parents and friends of Tetu’s students responded with screams, jubilation recently during Tetu Rising Prize Giving Edition for 2023.
Through the Tetu Rising Initiative, a total of 112 students who had scored 300 marks and above in last year’s KCPE were awarded at the event held at Kinunga Stadium.
Each student was honoured with a backpack, pocket money, and a certificate in recognition of their outstanding achievement.
The atmosphere was filled with pride and joy as the students received their well-deserved awards.
“I am happy to report that the motivation programmes through prize giving editions have borne fruit by fulfilling the objective of improving Tetu’s education performance,” area MP Geoffrey Wandeto said.

The Prize Giving initiative is part of the Tetu Inua Elimu Programme, an intricate initiative aimed at enhancing education standards and performance in the next 5 years and beyond.
Wandeto added that students have shown significant improvement in their academic performance.
The MP added that under the Tetu Inua Elimu programme, over 12,000 students have benefited from bursaries to support their education.
“Plans are currently underway to incorporate a feeding programme within the initiative to ensure that students have access to nutritious meals, thereby helping to improve attendance and retention rates in schools,” he added.

Wandeto said that, to enhance the education status in his constituency, significant efforts have been made. He mentioned that renovations have been carried out in classrooms, and a new laboratory has been constructed for Junior Secondary Schools (JSS).
“For many years, Tetu was an academic giant; we want it to regain that status,” he added.

Agnes Wanjiku, a parent, expressed her gratitude for the assistance with pocket money, emphasizing its significance.
“For many parents who struggle financially, the support is invaluable as it helps alleviate the burden of sending their children back to school. The provision of pocket money ensures that students have the necessary resources to continue their education without facing financial constraints, reflecting a positive impact on families within the community,” she said.
