Mukiria TTC Principal asks govt to erect footbridge to curb accidents

Mukiria TTI Principal Michael Maina wants the government to erect a footbridge near the college to save lives.

Mukiria Technical Training College (TTC) Principal Michael Maina has asked the national government to construct a footbridge across River Mariara along the Nairobi – Meru Highway in Central Imenti Constituency to reduce avoidable accidents at the notorious black spot.

The principal also wants the government to erect bumps along the stretch of the road near the institution where accidents occur regularly, with some claiming the lives of students.

While raising concerns over the many accidents which happen there, Maina said the only solution to reduce such occurrences is to build a footbridge over River Mariara and erect bumps at the junction.

Speaking to the media at the institution, Maina also called on all education stakeholders in the area, including elected leaders, to support and market the college.

He said the community should come on board and own the college because they will greatly benefit from it through renting out premises to students and teachers and selling their farm produce to the institution.

He called on parents to enroll their children in the institution to enable them learn vital technical skills, which are marketable in the modern world despite the grades they scored at basic education levels.
