Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) West Pokot branch has asked the TSC to address the teacher shortage in the county as a matter of urgency.

Speaking during their region’s recent elections, the branch Executive Secretary Martin Sembelo said that teacher shortage might compromise education in the county.

Sembelo also applauded the security organs in the county for beefing up security at boarder schools. He urged them to continue in the same spirit as this has greatly allowed learning to take place.

His sentiments were echoed by Joseph Malel Lang’at, KNUT First Vice National Chairman, who was the chief guest of the event.

“I do believe that TSC is in a good position to address teacher shortage in our learning institutions,” he said.

In addition, he encouraged teachers in the republic to invest in Saccos.

“Investing in Saccos will improve your lives socially and economically,” he said.

Sammy Bor, member of NEC representing Rift Valley, congratulated West Pokot for holding peaceful and mature elections.
