Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has advertised positions to replace top directors who resigned or retired; and new ones created by the recently adopted Career Progression Guidelines (CPG), for its Secretariat.
In an advert seen by Education News, the Commission has advertised positions for five Directors to fill its Directorates of Teacher Discipline Management, Staffing, Human Resources and Development, Internal Audit, and ICT; with one Deputy Director position for Teacher Management.
Interested applicants have been given up to February 21, 2024, to send their applications.
Through a Circular dated November 28, 2023, and signed by the Commission Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Nancy Macharia which effected the CPG for Secretariat Staff, the Commission renamed its Directorate of Field Services to Teacher Discipline Management.
Evelyn Mitei has been holding the position of Director Field Services in an acting capacity since being appointed in July 2022 after the retirement of Mary Rotich. She was earlier the Deputy Director at the Commission’s Integrated Personnel Payroll Data (IPPD).
The new Director in the renamed directorate will oversee the execution of the Annual Performance Contract and work plans for the Directorate, spearheading the development Directorate’s budget and Procurement plan.
The Director will also spearhead investigations on teachers’ professional conduct, supervising implementation of teacher investigation reports, coordinating the implementation of risk management recommendations in the Directorate, ensuring the implementation of Audit recommendations within the Directorate, and developing and reviewing the Directorate’s Service Charter.
Antonina Lentoijoni has been acting as the Director Staffing since January 2023 after the resignation of Rita Wahome. Before her elevation, she was the Commission Deputy Director in charge of Staffing.
The same period also witnessed the resignation of top Directors, including Isaac Nganga of Internal Audit and Charles Gichira who was the Director in charge of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) dockets; positions which the Commission wants to fill now.
Dr. Julius Olayo who was the Director in charge of Human Resource Management and Development resigned last month to join the Kenya Police Service.
