Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) principals in Northern and Southern regions of Rift Valley have been advised to ensure their institutions have valid title deeds.
A senior officer in the Office of the Auditor General Mulili Muli said some TVET institutions do not have title deeds while the heads are entirely not bothered to get the important document.
Speaking during a 4-day training workshop for TVET South and North Rift on Financial Management and Audit held at Rift Valley National Polytechnic in Nakuru, Muli said it is a requirement by law that all TVET Institutions should have a title deed.
Muli said that even if the community donated the land, the TVET principal must initiate the process of acquiring the document as soon as possible.
“We want to encourage all TVET principals to ensure that all institutions have a valid title deed to enable the government to invest in infrastructure like classrooms and other structures,” he said, revealing that majority of education institutions in Narok and Baringo counties do not have title deeds.
The event was attended by various officers from TVET institutions, including principals and their deputies, and finance, procurement and accounts officers.
