MP launches construction of KMTC Bumula campus

Guests accompany Bumula MP Jack Wanami Wamboka and Bungoma town KMTC Campus Principal Victoria Roi at the official launch of the construction of the administration block.

Bumula Constituency MP Jack Wanami Wamboka and the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Board have launched the construction of an administration block at the area KMTC Campus for Ksh100 million.

Wamboka noted that the project had stalled for years but its construction would be complete in six months to ensure the first batch of students are enrolled in the September intake.

He asked the Principal of KMTC Bungoma Town Campus, Victoria Roi, to keep close tabs on the progress and also create awareness campaigns for courses such as Nursing, Clinical Medicine, Health Records, and Nutrition and Dietetics so as to attract more students, especially from the area.

“I urge you my people to take advantage of this opportunity and construct more students’ hostels to accommodate the influx of students once admissions begin in earnest,” he added.

On her part, Principal Roi called on parents to encourage their students to study science subjects while in secondary school to qualify for admission in the new KMTC campus.

“While assisting your children to apply for various courses, do not only apply for Nursing and Clinical Medicine courses as there is a wide range of courses to choose from,” she said.

Also present was Bumula Sub-County DCC Hidaya Abdala who warned parents against not enrolling their students to the next education level after sitting their exams, saying that it was against the government’s 100% transition policy.

Hidaya also cautioned residents against holding night wakes (disco matanga) saying that it was one of the major causes of teenage pregnancies among girls and drug abuse among school boys, which in turn led to rise in cases of school dropouts and a decrease in education standards.
