Several needy children in Kajiado who sat the 2023 KCPE are calling for support to join Form One, including the top candidate at Arap Moi Primary School Marvin Munyua who scored 396 marks and was called to Oloolaiser High School.
But unable to raise the required fees for the national school, he has opted to go to a day school in the neighbourhood.
However, his teachers are pleading with local leaders, including Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo, to support the student to join the national school, which is among the best in the county.
Eunice Kilena, who scored 251 marks, is also calling for help after her family failed to raise money to join Ewuaso Girls.
The mother Eunice Naekaria said the girl would have performed well but due to financial challenges, she managed only average marks.
She said if she is enrolled in the boarding school, she will definitely perform well.
In Ongata Rongai Ward, a student from Olekasasi is yet to report to Kimana Girls after failing to get the required school fees.
Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu had said the Interior Ministry will mop up all homes to realize the 100 per cent transition.
The CS said boarding fees charged in public secondary schools will remain unchanged in 2024.
