President William Ruto has highlighted the government’s efforts to create job opportunities through the digital super highway infrastructure.
“With the supply of 22,000 computers, our Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions are already benefiting from this initiative,” he said during his new year message at Statehouse Nakuru.
Ruto emphasized the importance of rolling out ICT hubs in every Ward and Constituency in Kenya to further support this programme.
The President acknowledged the collective efforts of Kenyans in rescuing the country from economic challenges and steering it towards a brighter future.
He mentioned that the country successfully managed complex debt situations, accelerated economic progress, and made significant investments in human capital.
He also announced that his government increased allocations to the education sector by KShs127 billion in 2023.
“This increase has allowed for the enhancement of capitation for all learners, ensuring the realization of universal education from Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) to the tertiary level,” Ruto said.
He further said in the year 2023, his government employed 56,000 teachers to improve access to quality education across the country.
