MP gives Ksh74 million as bursary for university, college students

Kaiti MP Joshua Kimilu makes comments after issuing bursary cheques for university and college students.

Kaiti MP (Member of Parliament) Joshua Kimilu has given Ksh74 million as bursary for about 2000 university and college students.

Speaking at his Mukuyuni NG-CDF offices during the issuance of the cheques, Kimilu revealed that the amount has increased from Ksh45 million.

“We want to make sure that all learners who deserve bursaries have it before opening to reduce their arrears and keep them in class,” Kimilu said.

The legislature also revealed that he has partnered with an American university which has offered 20 scholarships to Masters students from his constituency.

“My job will be only to provide flight tickets; everything else is sponsored by the American university and the partners are here visiting the area. We will be taking the first 20 students for their Masters in America and later help them secure jobs abroad,” he said, calling upon the government to increase capitation funds.

He assured that he will work jointly with other MPs to push NG-CDF to over Ksh200 million for bursary and other development projects in the constituency.
