Former Bumula MP Dr Bifwoli Wakoli at his graduation. He said he was inspired to pursue education after he lost elective politics last year.

Former Bumula MP Sylvester Bifwoli Wakoli has graduated with a PhD in Philosophy of Religion from Kibabii University, saying it is an important point in his life as he is now self-actualized.

Speaking at the university on Friday, the vocal leader said his graduation is a new dawn in his career as he has attained what he has desired in life.

“I’m very glad today because I have attained my self-actualization in life. It has not been an easy journey; it requires determination and resilience,” Wakoli said.

The former MP encouraged youth to embrace education, saying that it is the key to success and exposes one to different perspectives, just like it has made it possible for him to know all religions in African.

“The studies I have done at Kibabii have made me versed with the African religion. I’m now able to write and demystify the African religion,” he said.

He said after losing in politics, he decided to fully go back to school with a goal of actualizing his dreams.

He vied for the Bumula parliamentary seat in last year’s elections but lost.

Speaking at the graduation event, Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka committed 70 acres of land in Sang’alo towards Kibabii University’s infrastructural development and research.

The county boss affirmed that it was in fulfillment of a pledge he made to the institution as there was need to expand and accommodate the ballooning numbers of students.

“Kibabii University and the county government are conjoined. We commit to continue our invaluable support for the varsity,” he said.

“Through our ambitious street lighting project, Kibabii University and its environs have access to proper lighting that has consequently addressed insecurity in the region,” he added.

He pinpointed other crucial projects that will directly impacts the varsity, among them the just concluded KOICA phase two water project and the health facilities that will be equipped and upgraded.

The function was graced by Paul Mungai, the Deputy Director Higher Education.

Also present was Kanduyi MP John Makali, Kibabii Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac Odeo, and Bungoma County CECM for Education and Technical Vocational Training Institutions Dr. David Wamamili, among others.
