Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has announced that all 2024 Form 1 students shall be required to report to school on January 15, 2024.
Machogu made the announcement during a press conference held at Lenana School, Nairobi on Monday.
He also said that the results of the Form 1 selection and placement exercise are now available at the Ministry of Education’s official website, www.education.go.ke as well as www.kemis.education.go.ke, from where candidates can access their results and download joining instructions.
After downloading the instructions, candidates are required to present the letter to the Headteacher of their former primary school for authentication. The letter will then be verified by the Principal of the admitting school.
“Principals are advised to confirm that letters presented to them belong to learners who will strictly be on their selection list. Primary and secondary schools can access their selection lists from the NEMIS platform,” the CS said.
Machogu also said that the admission process for the students will be conducted online through the National Education Management Information System (NEMIS).
NEMIS is an online portal that manages and automates education data and other administrative functions.
To facilitate decision-making, the Ministry has developed a reporting module that Principals in both public and private schools will use to report the admission of each learner online. This will provide real-time data on admission and reporting trends.
Machogu emphasized that Principals are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, security and integrity of their school data on NEMIS.
