Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu.

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu will announce the results of the 2024 Form One placement on Monday for candidates who sat the 2023 KCPE examinations.

The selection process took two weeks – from November 27 to December 11, 2023.

Earlier, Machogu assured that the selection would be fair to all candidates as the Ministry had implemented a transparent system for the placement exercise.

This year, the top student scored 428 marks while 8,523 candidates scored over 400 marks.

The Ministry confirmed that all candidates with 400 marks and above would be selected to join national schools.

During the selection process, candidates were required to choose 4 national schools and 3 extra-county schools, followed by two county and two sub-county schools.

Machogu also revealed that 352,782 learners scored between 300 and 399 marks, accounting for 24.94% of the total candidature.

Additionally, 658,278 learners scored between 200 and 299 marks, 383,025 candidates scored between 100 and 199 marks, and 2,060 candidates scored between 1 and 99 marks.

The CS mentioned that 9,354 candidates did not sit for the KCPE 2023 exams but they have a second chance to register in January.

Furthermore, he stated that only two candidates were involved in exam malpractices.
