Churches in Kenya have been encouraged to prioritize education and invest in the training of their pastors and leaders.
The pro-term president of the Global Methodist Church, Kenya Annual Conference, Rev. Wilton Odongo emphasized the importance of building Christ-like character and preserving biblical truths in a rapidly changing world.
“To avoid misleading congregations or radicalizing believers, churches must provide relevant exposition of God’s word in preaching,” Rev Odongo stated.
The Wesleyan Methodist Training College, based in Kabiria, Nairobi, offers a range of theological, technical, and business courses to equip pastors from marginalized communities and poor areas of the country.
Scholarship programs are also available to empower pastors, church leaders, and young people from slum areas who lack financial support to further their studies.

The GMC church is committed to preparing church leaders and members of the community to fight ignorance and be the people that God intended them to be.
“We equip church leaders with a focus on understanding religious doctrines, ethical considerations, pastoral care, effective communication skills, leadership abilities, and pastoral empathy,” Odongo said
The church has been providing training and capacity-building programs are also provided for members of the public in Kakuma refugee camp, in Turkana County.
